Description:
Club Santiago is a good option for late night dinners or drinks in a more controlled environment. It's nicely furnished, with Chilean touches, such as hand-lettered signs, old photos of entertainers on the wall, etc. It's a lively place without being overly crowded or loud, and they tend to play lots of music in English. It's an old mansion from the 1930s with a long staircase to the upstairs, where there is a nonsmoking section, and where the stylish bathrooms are located.
Notable nibbles include eggplant crostini and some larger, heartier plates, featuring some Chilean specialties. Evenings bring happy hour specials on the beer, which you can drink Michelada (with lemon, salt and tobasco) or not, and they serve Kuntsmann (a local beer) on tap in large mugs. This is called a schop.
Since it's a slightly more expensive option than some of the streetside bars, and has a less see-and-be-seen atmosphere, it tends to attract a slightly older crowd, starting in their mid to late 20s.
