Description:
This place is one of my stand-bys for a quick and affordable meal. Most of my experience is with the food, the bakery does look really good as well.
This is mostly a Spanish language spot. Mostly they serve "panes" and "comidas". . . the "panes" are great little sandwiches. A serving of two make a pretty satisfying meal; I recommend the one with pollo and the one with chile (kinda like a chile relleno sandwich). The "comidas" are a larger meal served from the steam tables, usually some kind of meat stew. There are a wide range of appetizers available here too.
I must mention the platanos breakfast. . . . it is very simple and satisfying. You get some fried plantains, one of the white rolls that are a speciality here, and some crema and some black beans. It is a delicious way to start the day.
This place has a real home-cooking feel to it. Based on eating here I have concluded that Guatemalan food is very satisfying and not so spicy.
