Description:
With 34 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, Wilder Ranch State Park is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in Santa Cruz County. While going for a nice stroll in the woods here is always a good time, many mountain bike enthusiasts are drawn to the Wilder Ranch Mountain Bike Trail, a multi-terrain, suitable for most levels dirt path that begs to be biked. It's a great trail for beginners to get their bearings but provides excitement for even the most seasoned biker.
Even for hikers, the terrain's variety takes you from woods to the beach to back again, offering up something new to explore at every turn. Parking is $10 but that fee goes towards maintenance of the state-run park. Parking is available along Highway 1, though from there visitors have to hike into the park. Finally, the views are worth any extra effort or extra cash.
