The family owns and operates one of the first restaurants built on the Santa Cruz Wharf, Stagnaro Bros., which opened its doors in 1947. Before they ventured into the food service biz, however, the Stagnaros ran a small seafood market where they sold the very fish they caught in the Monterey Bay. That market has grown quite a bit in the last few decades, and the Stagnaros continue to this day to catch their own fish and sell them fresh from their market on the Wharf.
Put simply, this family knows fish and it knows the sea. They've now made it possible for others to join them on fishing and sight seeing explorations of the waters surrounding Santa Cruz's shoreline. The Stagnaro company offers fishing trips, scenic cruises, whale and dolphin watching, and private party trips at sea on their ship, Velocity.
