Three generations of baking goddesses pour their hearts and quite a few cups of sugar into the confections coming out of the new Buttercup Cakes and Farm House Frosting store front in downtown Santa Cruz. Renowned cake decorator Jan Wilson is the mastermind behind the recipes while her daughter, Carren Dixon, develops vegan and gluten-free recipes with her own daughter. She also keeps her eye on the aesthetic details of the cakes, such as rose petals and seasonal fruit.
While the cupcakes are crowd pleasers, the frosting the ladies whip up, which can be bought by the bucket-full, is the real joy coming out of this little shop.
