Description:
Originally built in 1871, the Upham Hotel is a quiet 58-room hideaway just off of State Street. The accommodations are plush with down duvets, a fire in the lobby, and an occasional claw foot tub. The rooms available in the original building are smaller than the garden cottages scattered throughout the grounds, but the history of the property is more apparent in the storied main house. Breakfast in the rose garden is tranquil and recalls a quieter, slower paced Santa Barbara of the past, and dinner at the onsite restaurant, Louie's, is a treat of California comfort food.
