La Casona, simply put, means a large house, or mansion. In this large old building with high ceilings, they've worked hard on the ambience, with candles on each table, and flowers on each table, and a blazing fire to keep you warm on cool evenings. It tends, as do many restaurants in San Pedro, to attract more tourist than locals, but many of those tourists are Chilean, so you might not notice the difference!
The restaurant serves typical Chilean fare, meats and large portions for the menu of the day, including rice or papas mayo (potato salad), and sandwiches such as the Barros Luco (the closest thing to a philly cheesesteak chile has to offer) and has outdoor seating during the day. A cozy bar serves pisco sours any time.
This restaurant/bar is housed in an old colonial building with soaring ceilings. Candlelit wooden tables adorned with a few sprigs of flowers and a crackling fireplace set a quieter ambience. There's also daytime outdoor seating, a pub, and an outdoor bar in the back warmed by a blazing fire, and though it isn't the hot spot it once was with locals, it can still get lively at night. La Casona serves predominately Chilean specialties but in a slightly updated style, and delicious breakfasts. Don't miss their new wine shop with an outstanding selection; it is really the only place to buy a decent bottle of wine in town.
