Budget Cabo San Lucas
Description:
Most of the businesses aimed at tourists in Cabo are expensive, but the best parts of the southern tip of Baja are free: the desert, the mountains, the sand, and the water. Luckily there's also plenty of good family-owned restaurants in town that charge local prices, too.

Day 1 - Cabo San Lucas
Begin your trip by renting ATVs for a ride in the nearby Desert Park Natural Reserve, where there's so much to see in the changing terrains as you travel through the desert and the mountains. Afterwards, wash off the dust and grab lunch at the hotel before taking off to explore downtown Cabo San Lucas on foot. Visit the Town Square, and check out some of the interesting galleries around there as well as other cafes and shops. For your first dinner, you have to try the fresh seafood at La Casa del Pozo, a traditional family-style restaurant with flavors from all over Mexico.

Day 2 - Cabo San Lucas
Take a half-day trip in the morning to try to catch a glimpse of the migrating whales with Cabo Expeditions, an ecological tour company. For lunch, stop by a local favorite, La Perla, for great cheap tacos. After, instead of taking a snorkeling tour, rent snorkels and boogie boards from the afternoon from the Cabo Sports Center, and head out to some of the nearby beaches, including Playa Barco Varado (shipwreck!), Monuments Beach (great waves!), and Playa Santa Maria, where there are amazing reefs for snorkeling right off the beach. When you've had enough, grab dinner in Cabo San Lucas at Buddha's, where you can get a huge Asian bowl that's quick and so good.

Day 3 - Cabo San Lucas
Travel to the Mercado Mexicano in the morning, where you can find some real steals among the souvenirs and other items for sale. Afterwards, take a shuttle to Todos Santos, a small town north of Los Cabos where there's tons of local tradition and culture. Have a quick lunch at one of the sweet little cafes, and visit Hotel California and the mission here. On your last night in town, fill up on fresh grilled barbeque at Parrillada back in Cabo San Lucas, where the flavors are great and the food's all-you-can-eat. If you're not tired yet, head to Zoo Bar, one of Cabo's most unique and fun bars, for 2-for-1s.
