La Choya Burger gets its name from a local cactus as well as being a slang name for Los Cabos locals. Run by a friendly local Mexican surfer named Pedro. Pedro spent some time at a friend's restaurant on the mainland to learn his skills before opening his own place and it shows. You want to see a clean kitchen?, watch him and his staff tidy up after closing. La Choya Burger is located beside El Encanto Inn in the historic art district of downtown San Jose Del Cabo. Great outdoor patio on a spacious, quiet lot, tastefully landscaped. The fresh burgers are made from ground beef, grilled flank steak, chicken, veggie pattie (maybe the best veggie burger in town) or hot dogs and are served with delicious seasoned wedge fries, all are freshly made-to-order. There is quite a selection of burgers, many named after local surf celebrities. The Oceanica burger is a popular choice with bacon and grilled onion. The place is licensed so enjoy with a cold beer or a refreshing home-made lime/strawberry water. Call ahead for take out orders, though sitting and relaxing on the patio is the way to go.
