Golden Gate Park is the most famous, but far from the only, or even the best, park in the Bay Area. Lounge away in Speedway Meadow or wander the botanical gardens or Japanese Tea Garden. There's tons of nooks and crannies in this expanse of green for a picnic, BBQ, or gathering of any kind. Dolores Park is the local's choice. When the fog settles on the rest of the city, this park often has a ring of sunshine on it. A picnic on the hill offers great downtown views. Bi-Rite ice cream is also nearby. San Francisco's many waterfront parks feature stunning views of the Bay or the Pacific, perfect for a picnic or a leisurely stroll with the camera. Hilltop parks ring the Bay, waiting for you to hike or bike to the summit for spectacular panoramas, birdwatching, or just to give the legs a good stretch.
