As a big city, San Diego has all the best sports to offer locals. While we not be known for having the best professional athletic teams in the state, any San Diego Padres game, San Diego Sockers or San Diego Chargers game is always a good time. Padres games, played at home in Gaslamp's Petco Park, are always relaxed and fun for the whole family - and can even be free of charge if you find a spot on the lawn. The Western Metal Supply Co is a local favorite for people watching and catching the occasional fly ball; and as a historical monument, it's a classic viewing spot, especially with a beer in hand. San Diego Chargers' Qualcomm Stadium is one of the most well known in the league, and could remain that way if the team stays in the city. The San Diego State Aztecs will occasionally play in the stadium, as will special events like the Poinsettia Bowl. With the beach in close proximity, many San Diego sports aren't professionally done but great for weekend activity. Nearly every weekend in the summer is jam-packed with outdoor sporting events including marathons (like the Rock 'n' Roll), triathlons, bike events and more. With just as many sports teams' as there are schools, the University of California, San Diego's RIMAC Arena is often filled with the cheers of university students for basketball games and volleyball matches. The San Diego State Aztecs' football team takes over Qualcomm and USD's Torero.
