Salzburg has a number of interesting and unusual kid-friendly things to do, starting with a salt-mines tour in the Bavarian Alps. The tour travels via the Alpenstrasse, along the King's Lake River to the Obersalzberg, which is famous for Hitler's retreat, the Eagle's Nest. The Haus der Natur in the center of Salzburg is a perfect activity on rainy days but it may get crowded, which can be a problem as the corridors are narrow. The open-air swimming pool is Salzburg's largest outdoor pool and is situated in the affluent Leopoldskron. Here you can swim while enjoying splendid views of Leopoldskron Palace. A popular spot for outings from Salzburg, the Hellbrunn Palace dates from the early 17th century and was built as a hunting lodge and summer residence for Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus. Children spend enough time in front of the video screen back home. Get them outdoors and they'll quickly be enjoying the kid-friendly activities Salzburg and environs has to offer.
