Salzburg is known for satisfying meals and great sweets, which makes it a perfect city to find a restaurant for the kids. Spaghetti and Co. in the Getreidegasse is a good and cheap place to eat in the tourist area of town, featuring pastas and pizzas. SOG in the Nonntal District also has pizzas and a very student-oriented atmosphere. Pizzeria Il Sole is a well-managed Italian restaurant that sits immediately adjacent to the lower stage of the Monchsberg elevator. Franziskischlossl is interesting in that it can only be reached on foot. The lovely walk will take you through a beech tree forest and if you're lucky you might even see a chamois while you're making your way up the Kapuzinerberg. Carpe Diem is a new concept in Salzburg dining, a huge, exclusively styled pub on two floors, with lounges, a cafe area and bar. It's the creation of Dietrich Mateschitz, who became famous for inventing Red Bull. But the young ones won't need an energy drink after they fuel up at one of Salzburg's filling kid-friendly restaurants.
