The Trevi Fountain is a site to see, but with the recent tourist congestion, sometimes its best to maximize your visit by also visiting some of Rome's notably and less noticed spots. Near the Trevi is an amazing museum of pasta history, and just above is the beautiful Palazzo Quirinale, former home to the King of the Italy and now seat for Italy's president. Next door is the impressive Scuderie which hosts blockbuster exhibitions. If staying on level ground is your preference, either walk up toward Palazzo Barberini for its impressive collection of Renaissance and Baroque art, and hang out amongst the Bernini sculptures at Piazza Barberini. Or else head in the other direction to the Pantheon, making sure to take in Marcus Aurelius's column and Hadrian's temple, on your way.
