Gentile Urca is best known for the being home to Sugar Loaf mountain, but there are many more reasons to visit this charming neighborhood. Huge colonial mansions and quiet streets make for a pleasant stroll, Praia Vermelha is a safe, secluded spot for sunbathing beneath the mountain, and trails lead round the bottom of Sugar Loaf - look out for monkeys in the trees overhead.
