Rio de Janeiro landmarks are among the most iconic in the world. The city is home to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World - the Christ Statue atop Corcovado mountain - as well as the legendary Sugar Loaf mountain, and two of the most famous beaches in the world, Ipanema and Copacabana. And of course, Rio de Janeiro landmarks also include Maracana Stadium - one of the best-known sports stadiums in the world, and formerly the largest football/soccer stadium in the world.
Few visitors to Rio head home without making the trip to some or all of these iconic locations, and there are further picture-postcard images to be taken in at Lagoa, Jardim Botanico and Arpoador.
Meanwhile, music fans should make a beeline for Lapa, where the Escadaria Selaron will be recognised from videos by Snoop Dogg and Pharell, as well as U2 and the Black Eyed Peas.
