Zona Oeste Nightlife in Rio de Janeiro
Most visitors to Rio will spend most of their time in the Zona Sul (south zone) of the city, but nightlife in the west of the city is pretty lively too. Bars and clubs in the Zona Oeste, Rio de Janeiro are mainly concentrated in the vast, wealthy suburb of Barra da Tijuca, but there are worthwhile spots to visit in the surrounding areas too.
Party people can mingle with beautiful Brazilian girls and boys at chic night spots such as Nuth, or hang out with a more casual crowd at Deck, while there is more informal eating and drinking to be found at spots such as Parque das Rosas and Bar do Oswaldo.
Vargem Grande, a wonderfully rural neighborhood, is fast gaining a reputation as something of a culinary haven, and Skunna, with its live music and delicious seafood, is a Zona Oeste nightlife option that justifies the cab ride.
