After-hours in Rio de Janeiro
Rio's hardcore partiers don't get going until way past midnight, and after-hours bars and clubs in Rio are often the scene of the city's liveliest nightlife action. While things are surprisingly quiet after hours in Rio during the working week, at weekends and holidays you should prepare yourself for a very long night.

For something a little less hectic, the beachside bars of Copacabana and Ipanema are great spots to shoot the breeze over a beer as the sun rises, while those based up in Santa Teresa will find that Simplesmente is open until late/early (depending on your point of view) virtually every night of the week.
