Being so far north, Riga is one of those cities that explodes with life in the spring and summer, and they know how to hold a party when the sun is shining and the crowds come to drop money. Besides the usual bar and club scene that graces any large city, Soviet-influence definitely has a hold on the arts of the city. Perfectionism with ballet, opera and classical music is definitely something that Latvians take heart in as part of their adopted, mix-and-match culture when they danced with Russia. Hitting a bar after one of these shows is definitely capable of producing a ridiculously fun time in a city that is grateful for its new-found identity.
