The city that launched a thousand weddings (and a thousand divorces) can still be a romantic place. The surrounding mountains, forests and a sprinkling of excellent museums, restaurants and great kissing spots gives Reno a little leg up in the romance department.
Well, why don't we start with the ultimate and tie the knot in Reno? Quickie marriages are still pretty popular here and there are several places you can get it done, such as the
Chapel of the Bells or the
Reno Riverwalk. If you are not quite ready to take the plunge, just take your date on a walk around the beautiful
Rancho San Rafael Park or up to
Windy Hill where you can get a view of the entire Reno/Sparks area.
Lavender Ridge, with its cafe, shopping and acres of lavender fields is also a romantic (and fragrant) place to be. If you really want to be close, go for a dip at the
Steamboat Villa Hot Springs or take a balloon ride at the
Great Reno Balloon Race. Maybe your partner is more adventurous? Then a hike up the
Ophir Creek Trail or a tour of the creepy
Chollar Mine in Virginia City will be a good place to go. Or maybe a little more culture is in order? Try the intimate
Reno Chamber Orchestra, a performance of the
Reno Philharmonic, or a show at the
Pioneer Theater or the
Nevada Repertory at the University of Nevada.
