NileGuide Expert tip:
The Irish bar "Clap" is located in the same building and shares the same garden. It's much less upscale and a good place to join the local crowd after a nice dinner at Emelia's.
Description:
One of the most up-scale restaurants in Queretaro, you won't want to walk in wearing your shorts and flip flops. Beautiful building, furnishings and grounds, located in Jurica colony on the northern edge of Queretaro. Soft lighting at night and classical music playing softly in the background adds to the elegant atmosphere. The owner is from the Emelia region of northern Italy and they serve authentic Italian food. Emelia's is expensive compared to most local restaurants but they do have some lower cost items on the menu that are very good, the home-made pizza for example. Wait staff is excellent but know in advance that food service will be slow because most of it's cooked from scratch when you order it. It's well worth the wait. While you're waiting for your food, the waiter can recommend something from their excellent wine and tequila collection. The porcini mushroom risotto is excellent. I made the mistake of ordering what I thought was one serving to go along with my steak but it was actually enough for a family of four. I make sure to make that mistake every time I go there so I can take home leftovers. The eggplant lasagne is also pretty yummy. And let's talk about the spaghetti – real Italian spaghetti…need I say more. If you have room, try the carmelized flan for dessert. If you have children with you and they get restless waiting, there's a large garden area for them to play in while you're waiting for dinner.
