Mare Nostrum is a modest little restaurant with a long menu of Spanish and seafood influenced plates just south of the center of town in Puerto Viejo. The best tables are outside on the edge of the road, and even when the rest of the town is empty, Mare Nostrum often has a crowd. It likely has to do with the gregarious Spanish owner, who has been fishing and making delicious paella for generations.
