Day 1 - Puerto Vallarta
With only a couple of days here, you want your vacation to start as soon as you get in, and that's just the way it's done at the Villa Premiere hotel. As soon as you get in, you'll be met with a cold towel, a beverage, and a massage. Now that's the way to get the relaxation started. There's a beautiful private beach here, but it's still just blocks from the center of downtown and tons of interesting shops, restaurants, and galleries. After you've gotten your massage and are in the laidback PV mood, set off on a walk around downtown and down the Malecon, the city's boardwalk filled with interesting art and some good shopping. There are some more unique art pieces to be found around town in some of the galleries, such as the Arte Popular Mexicano Galeria. Stop in for some delicious Cuban classics at La Bodeguita del Medio, a fun place with great music and roast pork right off the Malecon. Then, take a walk over to the Marina Vallarta afterwards and charter a sailboat or catamaran for an afternoon cruise along the bay. There are tons of beautiful beaches along the entire length of the bay, and some interesting local little towns to check out as you glide along. Being on the water as the sun sets over the bay is one of the most lovely introductions you can have to PV. For an end to your first day, stop in for a cocktail and to relax in the evening on the terrace at El Palomar de los Gonzalez, and to try some of the steaks and the fresh seafood at this first-class restaurant.

Day 2 - Puerto Vallarta
For a truly unique PV experience, try a temezcal, an Aztec steam bath ceremony, at Terra Noble Art & Healing Center. Overlooking the city, the center is a great place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle, and it's fun to be able to experience this ancient spiritual ritual. For a continuation of your day of relaxation, stop in for some great fresh guacamole made tableside at Los Arbolitos, a sweet authentic restaurant with a lovely Cuale River and mountain view. A can't-miss during the winter months in PV is the humpback whale migration through the bay. There are a number of tours that are guided by marine biologists and have boats equipped with hydrophones to listen to the whales, including Geronimo and Ocean Friendly tours. You can also try the afternoon Mexican Folklore and Tequila Tour, which provides some historical background for Mexican instruments and for tequila-making, and then you get to taste some delicious locally made tequilas with an expert. La Palapa is the perfect place to go for sunset drinks right on the beach, and to get some of the freshest seafood around. There are several different ceviches, and some delicious shrimp dishes.

Day 3 - Puerto Vallarta
Take a morning snorkeling tour with Vallarta Adventures, one of PV's best ecotour operations, to Los Arcos or the Marietas Islands. There's tons of large sealife to be seen in the bay, such as turtles, rays, eels, and of course lots of brilliantly colored fish. A fun afternoon activity away from the city is a horseback ride up to the Cuale falls, several miles long but worth the ride when you see the lovely view and get to swim in the clear pools here. In the evening, get to Cafe de Olla early enough to get a dinner seat, as the locals and tourists alike start lining up quickly to get a taste of the seafood platter at this sidewalk cafe.
