El Arrayán is not to be missed if you are in the mood for some delicious and authentic Mexican food. Set back from the busy Malecon, the restaurant offers a nice ambiance perfect for a romantic evening or dinner out with friends. The recipes are largely family recipes and make use of fresh local ingredients. The plantain fritters must not be missed for an appetizer. Popular entree options include the conchinita pibil, a marinated shredded pork dish, the duck carnitas, or the chicken mole. If you enjoy a tasty cocktail, you can't go wrong with the Raicilla Boom-Boom, a martini-like libation made with a local spirit.
Owner Carmen Porras is a big supporter of the slow food movement and with her partner, personally oversees the quality of the food. You will be hard pressed to find a sub-par dish on the menu. If you have a large party, you may wish to make reservations or if you want one of the window tables that looks out onto the street.
