Twenty years ago, or so, Sandy Beach was a long, empty expanse of flat sandy beaches. It was briefly interrupted by one small building, The Reef which was a brightly painted blue bar in the middle of nothingness. Everyone refereed to this as the "Free Beach" where you could camp and on weekends only, The Reef would open its shower and bathroom area for a small fee and you could grab a shower. Those days are long gone, the Sandy Beach has become home to a couple of miles worth of high rise condo projects. Here you will find a dozen projects or more: Puerto Privada, Las Palomas with its "Links" golf course, La Princessa, Las Palmas, Casa Blanca, Bella Sirena, Sonoran Sea, Spa, Sun and Sky along with Esmeralda. And at the edge of all this, there is still the "$5.00 Beach" (Of course, it's no longer Free!) and The Reef building surrounded with more buildings; now home to a Restaurant, a Bar, a Mini Mart and an RV Park. If you are not staying on Sandy Beach, you can park at either end and walk the beach. Or stop by one of the numerous properties and ask for a tour; they are always ready and willing to show to a prospective buyer. Each property is beautiful with its own stunning list of amenities.
