Description:
Puerto Penasco's in-town public beach is Playa Hermosa. It begins just in front of the Hotel Penasco del Sol. The city has built a large public parking lot at an entrance which also has somewhat of a boat ramp. There are some hap-hazard shops along the parking lot area. The parking lot is on 18th street. It can be accessed from Calle 13 (13th Street), turning north on P. Elias Calles and going several blocks until you reach 18th street and turning left towards the water. Beyond the Hotel Penasco del Sol the shoreline becomes rocky and continues around to the marina to the south. However, continuing up the beach, Play Hermosa stretches north as a beautiful sandy beach as far north as the Playa Bonita Hotel and accompanying RV Park where it merges into Sandy Beach. Playa Hermosa is a busy beach with vendors and water sports rentals of all variety. At the lowest of tides, some rocks are exposed beyond the sandy beach lending itself to "tidepooling", a favorite past time for the kids of all ages.
