The Peninsula de Cortés Golf Course opened in May of 2006. The course is over 7,100 yards long with a lake and about 100 bunkers. Here are beautiful green fairways meandering through the natural beauty of a rocky, sandy beach contrasted against lush, native desert vegetation. This course sits on a peninsula and therefore is practically surrounded by water. Nine of the holes are ocean side. This golf course claims to be one of the most unique golf courses in all of Mexico. It is challenging course to play while appreciating such marvelous wind-swept views of the entire estuary. There is a Pro shop, restaurant and bar, putting green and practice range. The club house overlooks the golf course's green grass, the desert dunes and the La Pinta mountain in the background. This is one more impressive golf course to be found in Sonora. The desert seemed to be manicured to perfection while the course is staffed by a professional team. So pack your clubs and be ready for a great day of golf . . . or two or three.
