Description:
CEDO stands for Center of Education of Deserts and Oceans. This is a great place to visit when you are in Puerto Penasco.
With nature conservancy and sustainability issues at the core of its research you are sure to come away with a renewed look at the world in which we live, especially this part of the world on the Sea of Cortez!
The campus is located within the Las Conchas beachfront community. Here you will see many displays of wildlife – from both the sea as well as the surrounding Sonoran Desert. English speaking instructors will tell you about their research and why it is so important. Also on the property you will see the skeleton of a very large fin whale that had washed up many years ago and is undergoing restoration.
Take a tour of their "earthship" a dwelling made entirely of discarded tires, aluminum cans and stucco, built to withstand the temperature swings found in the Sonoran desert. CEDO also offers a series of Naturearte EcoTours. Each tour is unique and focuses on one aspect of the local environment. The tours are interactive, informational fun and inspiring!
