The property is a fun location as it sits at the end of the Malecon. This Malecon is a huge boardwalk and plaza area where any city sponsored events will happen! It has been renovated and transformed several times. The most recent is the 2010 renovation to create an Old Port walking area and place all electricity underground. You are within walking distance of the fish and shrimp market, many shopping stalls, numerous restaurants and several bars.
Be sure to enjoy a leisurely breakfast one morning at Maria Bonita, the hotel's very popular restaurant which overlooks the sea. There is seating inside or outside on the patio to enjoy the sea breeze.
The up side: Proximity to the Malecon. The hotel has a fantastic pool area with a separate kiddie pool, a swim-up bar and Jacuzzi.
The down side: Although, the pool area & restaurant have great sea views, only a limited number of rooms have a view of the water. There is no beach beneath the hotel, but rather a rocky shoreline.
