While Prague's streets often act as a museum to art, history and architecture, there's a wealth of things to see inside the city's many museums and galleries.
For those looking for the latest and greatest in the art world, both locally and internationallly, check out one of Prague's contemporary art museums. DOX Center for Contemporary Art is the city's best, while the National Gallery often puts on a range of interesting shows. Obecni Galerie Beseda is a small attic-space gallery which is home to interesting local artists and photographers. The Gallery of Vaclav Spala is a good place to check out popular mid-generation Czech artists.
For ceramic and interior lovers, head over to the Museum of Decorative Arts. The Robert Guttmann Gallery is part of the Jewish Museum and always has an interesting temporary exhibition on. If you want to combine a fresh air walk with your museum visit, head over to the Troja Chateau where you can explore the interiors of the chateau as well as two exhibitions. The Prague Municipal Gallery also focuses on "newer" but more established Czech artists while Manes is home to big, temporary shows - check what is on when you are in town.
Finally for photography lovers, be sure to visit the Josef Sudek gallery for a fascinating look at this Czech photographer.
