Pensions are the perfect places for budget travelers to lay their heads. Smaller and normally located in neighborhoods close to the city center, you'll get a local atmosphere with a price tag you'll appreciate. Our top two favorite Prague pensions are Holiday Home, located in the superb Vinohrady neighborhood, and Dientzenhofer, across the rive in Mala Strana. Holiday Home offers a modern look and nice breakfasts, while although the Dientzenhofer is showing its age a bit, the rooms are large and there's a back garden - a find in this neighborhood.
Other good choices include Brezina, which is in the city center and the Standard Hotel, right on the river. To discover some great neighborhoods, check in to Klara in Holesovice or Tereza located a bit farther out in the still cool Vrsovice area. If you really want a taste of working class Prague, look to the Kafka in Zizkov. The Balbin is just up the road from the National Museum and Wenceslas Square, while for those who location is a priority should consider City Inn.
And finally, if you are looking to really get away from it all, choose Pension Villa Maria. Located on the outskirts of the city, their gorgeous garden is a wonderful place to enjoy a sunny afternoon - and they offer free airport and train pick-ups.
