Watch the video on the main floor to see the tug in action. Wonderful images of Portland's bridges from below as she steams up to Astoria.
Description:
The Oregon Maritime Museum is currently housed in the steamer Portland - the last steam powered sternwheel tug boat in the United States. The Portland enjoys ongoing restoration by a team of skilled volunteers, and she is a beauty! Take a tour of the tug and see bits of Portland's maritime history. The volunteer docents are friendly and knowledgeable, the engines are impressive, and the wheelhouse has the best view of Portland's bridges. Stop in the library to steep yourself in maritime history. Clang bells and blow the foghorn.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for youth (ages 6-17), children under 6 are free, military with ID are free, and a AAA card gets you $1 off admission.
