Phuket's weekend market can be confusing for the first time visitor. Long aisles and rows upon rows of stalls line Chao Fa West road, where the market is held. This is one of those markets where you can find anything: from home cleaning supplies to food to secondhand clothes to DVD (don't expect to find originals here, though). If you ever wanted to try fried insects or other unique Phuket "specialties," here's the place to do it. Although tourists now roam the stalls every weekend, the market was originally set up for the locals. That means you'll be less likely to find souvenirs and more likely to find authentic Thai products and foods. Crafts items and antiques do abound, so keep that in mind when shopping.
