Description:
The Thavorn museum is located in the lobby of the old Thavorn Hotel, one of the oldest accommodations in Phuket. The hotel itself is worth a visit, as it is home to one of the oldest elevators in Thailand and some very interesting paintings and old-style furniture. The museum occupies the lobby entrance and it offers one of the most bizarre collections you'll encounter in Thailand. There's really no rhyme or reason to the items you'll find here, except that all were collected by the Chinese-Thai family who runs the place. Take your time to explore and you'll find Chinese wedding hats, old movie posters, mining equipment and even opium smoking equipment and beds, directly from an opium den (not longer legal in Thailand).
