Description:
If you're looking for something unusual to do, a visit to the Bang Wad Reservoir could be fun. The reservoir is Phuket's largest water supply and is located at the bottom of Khao Mai Thao Sip Song (or Radar Hill). A long winding road surrounds the reservoir and offers great views and clean air, ideal for a jog or a picnic. If you're feeling adventurous, you can then head up the hill towards the the Phuket Weather Station (its antenna is what originated the name Radar Hill). You can't actually reach the station (it's a military point) but you can get close enough to the top to get some breathtaking views of Patong and Chalong Bay, the Andaman Sea and the Bang Wad Reservoir. There's nothing to do up here except enjoy the view and take photographs, so plan the drive up the hill as an add-on, not a full-day trip.
