Swan Valley Weekend
Description:
Just east of Perth, the Swan Valley region is home to dozens and dozens of vineyards plus a few breweries and food producers, too. Spending a weekend out there makes you feel like you're far away from the city, without the big drive.

Day 1 - Perth
Start your Swan Valley weekend by dropping in to the Swan Valley Tourist Information Centre - pick up a map so you can find some hidden wineries too. There are numerous vineyards to explore but a famous one is Sandalford Wines - stay for lunch and take a stroll in the afternoon. In the evening, have a German theme - start with a drink at the Duckstein Brewery then head just down the road to Elmar's for a meal and music. A popular spot to sleep is the Vines Resort.

Day 2 - Perth
If you've got kids in tow, try out the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm; if not, then you might deserve a sleep-in! For lunch, head out to another winery - I can recommend Sitella which has great food and a pretty location. Save stomach space for a stop at the Margaret River Chocolate Company, where you can watch chocolates being made, sample some for free, and buy some souvenir chocolates too.
