Viewing the Torres at Torres del Paine National park in Chile will require an overnight at the park, or a very early start from Puerto Natales. The easiest option if coming from the Torres side of the park is to spend the night either at the HosterĂa, Refugio or campsite at that end of the park, pack a daypack and hike the trail in the morning to the Torres.
There is a 45 minute ascent, about another two hours of gentle up and downs until you reach refugio El Chileno, where, with prior reservations you can have lunch or stop in for some coffee (Nescafe) any time. After that, it's about another hour of boulder and rock scrambling to get to the Torres, which you can only see when you near the greenish blue lake below them. Winds are often strong, and weather changes quickly. Be prepared for possible rain, and clamp down your hat accordingly.
Those trying to get the red-hued light on film or digital media will want to camp at El Chileno and hike up in the morning for the sunrise, and those who would rather horseback ride part way can arrange for that at the HosterĂa Las Torres down below.
