Day 1 - Paris

This trip is only loosely organized geographically, and is intended to be a quick introduction to off the beaten path options in Paris. You will not find many international tourists at the sights listed here. The spirit of this trip is to embark on a cultural/ethnographic hike through the city, taking in the places where Parisians live and work. You will not see any stained glass, many statues, or much in terms of grand monuments, but you will see what the 'real' Paris is. This is the Paris where I live, and where I play and work. It is where I go for a walk during the weekends, when I want to enjoy being in the city without hearing people speak English. I recommend that you take as many unassuming little streets between the sights as possible (you'll need a good map), and that you keep your eyes open for unusual buildings, hidden courtyards, and open-air markets. Stop at cafes, enjoy yourself, and you'll be good an tired by the end of the day. Bienvenue dans le vrai Paris!
