Description:

Dating back to 1851, when Louis Dejean proprietor of the Cirque d'Eté (Summer Circus)on the Champs-Elysées was given permission to build a winter headquarters for his acts, this is a traditional circus in that it has many animal acts, particularly equestrian ones – all that's missing is the tent. Here it was that in 1859 Toulousain Léotard first took to the flying trapeze. It has been run by the Bouligone family since 1933 and as its name suggests runs each winter from October to March, with tigers, elephants, jugglers, aerial acts and clowns, as well as more unusual acts such as performing cats.
