Avoid the place like the plague in early September, when college students descend en masse. Most other times of year, weekday mornings are a good time to shop.
Description:
If you've been to IKEA anywhere in the world, you'll be familiar with the set-up here: a long forced route past endless "rooms" idyllically arranged with gleaming, Euro-sleek, cheap furniture that someone else has assembled. To be fair, the living room suites, bedroom furniture, bookshelves, kitchen cabinets, linens, dishes and much, much more are usually more stylish than anything you'll find in the other chain furniture stores. And IKEA has ensured many a student doesn't sleep on the floor. The quality at the upper price ranges (which aren't that high) isn't bad. And hey, what other furniture store will serve you hot meatballs and let your kids bounce around in a roomful of plastic balls? In 2010, construction began on a new IKEA, rumoured to be the largest in Canada on the site. But for now it is business as usual.
