Formerly the venue for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, the aula (Great Hall) at the University of Oslo is home to 11 large early-20th-century canvas paintings by famed Norwegian painter Edvard Munch. The paintings cover more than 220 sq. meters of the aula walls, with
The Sun as the central, and most famous one. The university's department of archaeology and conservation is presently renovating the aula for the university's bicentennial celebrations in 2011.
