Grünerløkka is the renovated workers' district. It's a lively area with heaps of restaurants and cafes (including inexpensive ones), quirky shops and big parks. The area is particularly popular with Oslo's young and hip crowd. Strolling along Akerselva, the river which forms the border between Oslo's west and east, you'll find remains of Oslo's industrial history, as well as cosy cafes and cool clubs.
