Mountain biking in the Sacred Valley is simply notorious and every year international tournaments are hosted outside of Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. Though there are dozens of routes to choose from, the 1500 meter descent down from the Abra Malaga pass into the town of Ollantaytambo is a breath taking and well recommended experience. The paved route is highlighted by views of glacial peaks and Incan ruins and is an appropriate trip for beginner and experienced mountain bikers alike. Though there are a handful of agencies offering this trip out of Ollantaytambo, try KB Tambo Tours (not to be confused with KB Tours located in the main plaza) for the best bikes and knowledgeable service.
