When the sun goes down, the partiers come out. And where do they head to in New Orleans? The nightclubs, of course. And you can join in the after-hours fun. Grab some cash, put on the slickest fit in your suitcase and take to the dance floor. This is how New Orleans gets its swerve on. Pravda is a Russian bar specializing in vodka and absinthe. Red Room was ranked "Crescent City's Top Dance Club" by Gambit Weekly and "One of the Top 50 Dance Clubs in the Country" by Details magazine and this famous gay club offers great music and a incredibly fun time, whether you're straight or gay. The Dragon's Den is a hippy-ish sort of spot with pillows on the floor for lounging and after-hours it's transformed into one of the funkiest jazz venues in the city. The Spotted Cat Cocktail Lounge is our favorite live-music venue in New Orleans but that's because of our particular New Orleans aesthetic: we're partial to cramped rooms where the band plays without much (if any) amplification - and what they play at the Spotted Cat is usually fresh takes on classic and big-band jazz. Start with these places and move on to explore the almost endless possibilities offered by New Orleans nightclubs.
