Description:
Contemporary and more established Bahamian artists work and display their creations in this old Bahamian home converted into a busy artist's den by its owner, a well-established modern Bahamian painter, John Cox. The setting itself is delightful, with a pretty mature garden over hung by Royal Palms and other lush tropical plants. Art shows take place in the mini-gallery located inside what used to be the front room of this home - now converted successfully into a independent modern art gallery. The exhibitions often show the works of the artists who work within Popop, coming together with pieces on a particular theme, or of a visiting artist, of which there are usually several each year who will stop off at Popop to get some inspiration (it's best to contact them via their website to see when exhibitions are underway). The "Popshop" gift store sells creations from works of art to t-shirts, bags and trinkets made by local Bahamian artists that will make unique souvenirs for those friends back home with a taste for the arts.
