Howell Mountain
Feel above it all at Howell Mountain. Towering above the fog line, the heights of Howell Mountain overlook St Helena from an elevation of 1,400-2,200 feet above sea level. The first Napa Valley microclimate to be designated an AVA, the cool temperatures, lack of fog, and excellent drainage have made Howell Mountain very successful in the production of Bordeaux varietals and Zinfandel. The reds here are known for lush blackberry and currant flavors, and robust tannins; the Chardonnays feature less fruit expression than others from Napa. Howell Mountain's thirty-plus wineries, as well as other wineries that source the grapes, enjoy an ever-expanding collection of prestigious awards for their complex and earthy wines.
