Off the beaten path is the secret to finding the coolest things to do in the Napa Valley. Get away from the crowds at the biggest, most commercial wineries, and you'll find nothing but cool: cool restaurants with artisan regional cuisine, quirky art galleries and sculpture gardens, hip boutique hotels with state-of-the-art spas and bars, and a series of small towns each with its own unique character. There are so many interesting things to do in Napa you could stay a month and not do them all, but make sure you taste at several small, family-run wineries, sample the cuisine at a couple of the world-famous restaurants in Yountville, and peruse the cute shops in downtown St. Helena. And if you get as far north as Calistoga, make sure you visit one of that towns famous hot springs spas. Nothing's better than a hot soak after a day of sampling world-famous wine.
