The Grande Bretagne was one of the three original hotels set up in Nafplio in the 19th century when the small port served as the country's first capital. Of the three it is the one that's still standing today, waving the banner of luxury and Greek hospitality for thousands of tourists a year from all over the world. A total renovation in the early part of the 21st and a new owner considerate of the hotel's legacy saved it from total ruin. It's position right on the port is perfect for a weekend stay in Nafplio.
