Description:
The Museum Lichtspiele is the second oldest and still existing Movie theater in Munich and THE cult theater! Just like the oldest theater in Munich (Gabriel Theater) this was also founded by movie pioneer Carl Gabriel and bore his name in the beginning. It began 1910 with the renovation of a varieté theater in an apartment building from 1896. Today it has 4 theaters. Theater 1 is the original room, but famous is the rococo style theater 2 with its now 30 year performance of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" every Saturday, earning it a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. The theater also offers a wide selection of original versions, and is your best bet to watch a movie in English. It is easily accessible by public transport (S-bahn stop "Isartor") and is located next to the Deutsches Museum.
