Description:
The Welser Kuche is really something special. It doesn't fit in with any of the restaurants I've written about over the past few months as it is unique. The medieval themed restaurant is not unique, but this place is as authentic as it gets. The Welser Kuche gets its name from the Welser family of Augsburg who at one time were ridiculously wealthy having even literally bought Venezuela from Emperor Charles V. Their family recipe book is used today for what they serve at the restaurant as well as using Philippine Welser's diary which explains historical table manners and traditions used and enforced at the Welser Kuche. That's right; women have to serve men, no utensils other than a knife, and many other rules. It's all done in good fun with jokes, music, and presentations while you eat.
